TEi-Struthers Wells has sold over 2500 direct-fired process heaters, the majority being of the cylindrical radiant-convective design, and hundreds of others of various special arrangements such as radiant wall-fired cabin heaters, floor-fired cabin heaters with multiple zones, top-fired reformers, and many other configurations to suit the specific application.

Top-fired steam-methane reforming furnace produces hydrogen by catalytic reaction at high temperature.

Here is a sampling of our broad range of experience:

More than 100 ethylene dichloride (EDC) cracking furnaces of radiant-wall design.

More than 80 steam superheaters with heat duties ranging from less than 1 million Btu/h (290 kWt) to over 145 million Btu/h (42.4 MWt) and with outlet temperatures up to 1650°F (900°C).

More than 20 acetic acid pyrolysis (ketene) furnaces of radiant-wall design.

Potassium vaporizer operates at 1600°F (870°C).

Ethylbenzene/steam superheating furnaces for styrene monomer plants, with heat duties up to 340 million Btu/h (100 MWt) in a combination three-furnace set.

Propane cracking furnaces of the floor-fired cabin-type.

Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) vaporizers and superheaters, available in both radiant-convective and convective-only designs.

Oxygen heaters with outlet temperatures up to 1740°F (950°C).

Unique oxygen-natural gas combination preheater furnaces for acetylene plants in which the two separate streams are heated to individually controlled outlet temperatures in the same heater shell.

Isobutane stripper reboiler heater provides 117 million Btu/h (34.3 MWt) for a refinery operation.

Triple-compartment, cabin-type naphtha reforming furnaces.

Radiant-wall and top-fired steam-methane reforming furnaces with catalyst-filled tubes.

Fluorocarbon cracking furnace of top-fired cabin design with convective preheat sections and air preheat.

1200 once-through steam generators and high-pressure mine water heaters for thermal enhanced oil recovery and mining operations.

Combination H2S incinerators/fired heaters with H2S oxidation chamber and convective-only heating.

Over 100 liquid metal heaters to heat NaK and other metals to temperatures up to 1650°F (900°C).

Potassium liquid heater designed for a fluid outlet temperature of 2050°F (1120°C).

Potassium vaporizers operating at 1600°F (870°C).

Hundreds of refinery heaters for various refinery operations such as crude oil heating, platforming, naphtha vaporization, and coker feed heating to name just a few.

We draw on this wealth of experience and diversity of applications to select the very best heater type for a particular application.

TEi-Struthers Wells Continuous Improvement Program
As part of our continuous improvement program, we constantly gather operating data from existing installations to check against our predictions and to verify design practices. Numerous plant debottlenecking projects have allowed us to revamp older heaters and push them to their limits of operation. This valuable operating knowledge is recycled into our technology base and incorporated into our sophisticated heater modeling software. The result is the highest quality and the most up-to-date technology in all our heaters.

Bottom-fired hydrocarbon cracking furnaces operate at 1400°F (760°C).
